Want to Show Movies at your Library?
As you may be aware, exhibitions of motion pictures and other programs outside of the home require a public performance license. Regardless of whether or not an admission fee is charged, this legal requirement applies equally to for-profit and non-profit facilities, including public libraries.
The MPLC Umbrella License: A Simple Solution
The Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) is a copyright licensing agency authorized by motion picture studios and producers to grant the MPLC Umbrella License. The Umbrella License is an annual copyright license that allows public libraries to show an unlimited number of motion pictures and other programs that have been released by MPLC member studios and producers.
The Umbrella License provides coverage for movies and programs released by 20th Century Fox, as well as 395 other children’s, independent, documentary, and foreign producers.

Pricing for the Umbrella License is based on the population of the area your library serves:

Get Licensed and Begin Showing Movies!
To obtain a license, simply complete the application provided in our brochure and submit it to our offices via fax, email, or mail. Upon receipt, your application we will be processed, and your Certificate of License and either a receipt of payment or an invoice will be mailed. Once licensed, you can immediately begin programming movies obtained from any legitimate source, whether rented, purchased, or borrowed.
